This intriguing Asus model has caught the attention of consumers all around the world because of its outstanding design and controversial price, but like other laptop models, this unit has also its “Pros and Cons” and consumers will always consider many things before buying one.

Here is a list of the Asus Eee PC 1008P’s Pros and Cons;

Pros:

1. Great design –

A super slim design that measures an inch with the lid closed and weighs about 2.5 lbs, it is made together with Intel’s N450 Atom processor and it is considered to be energy efficient because of the processor which is part of the power saving PT architecture that also has the integrated GMA 3150 graphics. Its system runs by 2GB Ram and 320GB HD storage.

The whole unit is covered in the weave pattern textured casing.

2. Sturdy and slick keyboard and touchpad–

The keyboard in this Asus model is a Chiclet style which the house keys are flexible and quite. The touchpad is the rubbery type which most consumers like because of its quick response and quick dragging style that makes it very reliable.

The keyboard is small, but the keys are great.

3. It has a WLAN, Bluetooth and VGA connector-

This unit is equipped with a WLAN and a 2.1 Bluetooth. It also has a very small VGA connector that is kept behind a protective cover.

If you wonder why the Eee PC 1008P has no VGA port but produced a detachable small VGA dongle, Asus intentionally did this in order to keep the unit thin and compact.

Unlike other netbooks, this unit has a good quality webcam. The pictures are clean and the colors are perfect.

5. Great sound speakers –

Based upon reviews, this model has great sound speakers. It is loud and clear and the sound won’t be covered even if you place it on your lap or uneven surface.

Cons;

1. Slow processor –

Based upon reviews, the processor of this unit gave slower results than other netbooks specifically the Acer AO532h-2Dr, where they were contested in a conversion test, the Asus Eee unfortunately took 40 min& 33 sec. to change 11 tracks from MP3 to ACC which other netbooks average it from 20 – 25 min. only.

2. Bad microphone-

When you use the microphone and you record, it produces uneven sounds and when you play it back, it crackles

3. Low pixel  quality and a choppy video streaming –

The 1008P’s resolution of 1,024×600 while others has 1,366×768, with the price of $500, it seems that the video quality does not fit the price especially the video streaming is choppy.

4. Short battery life –

Unfortunately, this unit is a 3 cell battery and not a 6 cell battery, although integrated graphics is said to be energy efficient, since the battery this unit offers is a three cell, expect it not to be efficient. Other netbooks battery life last up to 5 hours, this model last for 2 hrs and 49 min. only.

With the average price of $500 dollars, this unit is the best choice to buy when you are a fashion kind of person and the only thing you care about is the physical features. But if you are the technical side of a person and you value what is inside the computer rather than the outside, this is not the laptop for you.
