Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router

The new addition to the Linksys family, E4200, is believed to be an upgraded model of the previously launched E3000. The reason for this is the new design it has to offer, much superior performance and also a web interface which includes the functionality of easy to use Cisco Connect Desktop application.

However, besides the positives, this product has also some problems attached to it. These concerns include its adapter which is very bulky, a guest networking aspect which just permits 10 clients once and also not having the technical standards to support 450Mbps throughput on the 2.4GHz band.

The product is priced at $180 which is comparatively on the higher side. However, if we keep in mind the design, features and performance it has to offer, then the price feels justified. Those users who feel this expensive can opt for either Linksys E3000 or E2000. On an average, the rating which this product has received as are follows; set and ease of use 8/10, features 8/10, performance 8/10 and service and support 7/10.

In terms of design, this product looks pretty like a costly gift box rather a router. This has boosted the sales of the Linksys E series. If we compare this product with others in the market with the same price range then E4200 would stand out with ease. The reason for this is its fancy design which is flat in shape, has an internal antenna and it is also compact in nature. The only disappointment which goes onto hamper the image of this product is its charger which is equivalent in size with that of a laptop charger.

No doubt, this product is a great example of innovation. E4200 does not have the normal series of status LED’s. However, it only contains one white light in form of Cisco logo that blinks at the booting time. This modem comes with a set up manual which allows you to set it up with ease in about less than 5 minutes.

The Good: The Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router provides genuine wireless connectivity. It offers you great range, healthy signals, Gigabit Ethernet, fast throughput, brand new design, advanced features, set up manual etc.

The Bad: The Linksys E4200 under performs when it comes to offering 450Mbps throughput on the 2.4GHz band, its guest networking feature only allows up till 10 people, the desktop application does not allow the user to be able to change the setting of the router, the power adapter is very bulky which the users often dislike.

The Bottom Line: The Linksys E4200 Maximum Performance Dual-Band Wireless-N Router is a great addition to its already existing router as it offers unmatched features and performance. This product might seem bit expensive, however its design is what convinces users to buy this product.
