Spotify took the world by storm when it was launched back in 2008 and today has reportedly around 10 million users! Those figures alone speak volumes about the popularity of this music streaming software. Spotify has recently partnered up with Kia Rio to bring to its users “Best Songs with your Windows Down” playlist

This endeavor would allow users of Spotify to add songs of their choice and compile a play list using Kia Rio Facebook page! Very convenient if you ask me, you get to use Facebook and submit songs to your own playlist to set the mood for traveling, working out or simply to have a chilled and relaxing moment.

How does it work?

To add the song of your choice to the playlist, just go to Kia Rio Facebook page, type the name of the song you want in the text field and hit the submit button as shown in the screen shot below:

The application will immediately fetch a list for your song, you can then select the one you like by checking the option box at the end of its name as shown above. Please note that your selected song won’t immediately appear on the list as it will first go through an approval process. There are plenty of spoilsports out there who will ruin the experience for us all, so this check and balance system is imperative.

Needless to say that you must have Spotify application installed to enjoy the playlist. If you don’t have Spotify installed, there is a link given at the bottom of the screen clicking which would download Spotify as shown in the screen shot below.

Once you have downloaded and installed Spotify, simply press the “view playlist” button which would reveal the entire playlist to you.

My selected song

My selection for windows down car driving is a song from a group called Kansas named “Wayward son”. The song is from the progressive rock genre and it’s the perfect blend of outstanding vocals, awesome & meaningful lyrics and guitar riffs. It’s the kind of music that has a tranquil effect while being highly enjoyable! A perfect song to listen to on a summer’s day with windows down and the volume cranked up. I just added the song name and Kia Rio found all the versions of the song for me including the single version which I couldn’t find otherwise!

Extending my Playlist

I am thinking about extending my playlist and adding more songs. Since I prefer old rock and metal genre, I would be adding songs from famous bands such as iron maiden, black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Alice in Chains and Metallica. I find such music simply stimulating and invoking the ‘go out there and get something done’ kind of feeling.

Which songs would you choose and why?

Using Kia Rio page is a great way to compile your own playlist by adding your favorite songs from your preferred genre; be it disco, rap, R&B, jazz, techno or my favorite metal! So go ahead and start submitting the songs of your choice and also tell me why you chose those particular songs and what kind of feeling they invoke in you when you listen to them with your windows down.

The playlist gets augmented everyday with songs being submitted by people from around the world. This means you could be looking at songs numbering in the millions depicting different genres and artists at their best. Check in regularly to spot your favorite music and download it via Spotify. What I love about Spotify is I can use it on my cell phone via Spotify mobile app which is available for various platforms such as windows, iOS, android and Symbian. Even if you don’t have access to the internet, you can activate the offline mood and listen to your favorite tunes.

Voice-Activated UVO Infotainment System

But wait that’s not all! I saved the best feature for last. You know, how it’s always emphasized that you shouldn’t undertake other activities while driving? Well, you can sit back and relax in your Kio Rio because Microsoft has come with this extremely nifty voice activated UVO infotainment system which you can issue verbal commands to like kicking start your MP3 player! All this is done with your hands on the steering wheel and eyes glued to the road ahead. The UVO infotainment system is totally tunable so you can tweak it to make it understand your accent and the way you talk.

In the end, I would like to go out there and start using Kia Rio to enjoy your favorite tunes on a summer’s day sitting in your vehicle with your windows down!
