Facebook Opens an Office In India to Expand Operations

On Thursday, Facebook announced that it is going to open an office in one of the biggest software and computer market in the world, India. The social networking giant announced that they have opened its office in City of Hyderabad which is one of the hubs for software operations in Southern India. Facebook has said that this move will help the company to attract software developers and will also boost the advertisers as per the numbers.

Kirthiga Reddy, who is the head of operations In India for Facebook, said that Facebook is seeing tons of momentum with almost 15 million users of the social networking service in the region. There are loads of opportunities in this region for Facebook as far as getting hold of developers and advertisers are concerned. It is the best possible time for Facebook to start off their operations in India and to cash on in this mega software market.

Facebook Inc. wants to pool in advertisers and developers from the emerging markets, like the booming markets of India and China, that’s why they have made a very decisive market move to expand in these regions.

On July 22, a status update was posted on Facebook India Page that almost 12 Million users of India are present on Facebook.

No Doubt, India houses one of the biggest and booming software markets in the world and software giants like Microsoft Corp, Oracle Corp and Sun Microsystems Inc. have already opened their bases in the region.

Facebook according to a poll is the third most viewed and visited website in India, Google and Google India have grabbed the top spot with more user’s density than Facebook. Orkut which is the social networking version of Google is at the 7th spot in terms of user traffic.
