Adobe Systems Incorporated announced Adobe AIR 2.5 software for televisions, tablets, smartphones and desktops at Adobe’s worldwide developer conference in Los Angeles. The AIR 2.5’s core USP is its ability to use the existing development code that enables the developers to force the existing code to create and deliver standalone apps across devices and platforms.

The Adobe AIR 2.5 comes with support for a multitude of new platforms including smartphones and tablets based on BlackBerry Tablet OS, Android, iOS and desktop OS including Windows, Macintosh and Linux. Samsung Smart TV will be the first television to integrate support for Adobe AIR 2.5 while others including RIM, Acer, HTC and Motorola are also expected to integrate the AIR 2.5 on a variety of devices including tablets and smartphones later this year.

AIR 2.5 has a 50% faster JavaScript engine and supports accelerometers, multi-touch gestures, cameras, microphones and GPS data. Support for geo location allows developers to create location-based applications and services. The SQLite supports cache databases in an AIR application. Hardware acceleration is enabled across all major silicon partners including Broadcom Corporation, Trident, Qualcomm, Texas, Intel NVIDIA, ST Microelectronics, Instruments and others.

With the release of Flash Platform tools, including AIR 2.5 SDK, developers can build mobile and multi-screen applications while maximizing design and development productivity. More than 3 million Flash developers can now build a single game or application and easily set up it across multiple application stores and devices.
