If you want to get your business noticed then you need to make sure it has a dedicated website and that you promote this website as best you can. If you have decided to set up a website for your business or you are trying to set up an online business then one of the most important things to consider is web hosting. Web hosting is what is required to get your website visible on the World Wide Web. If you are searching for web hosting services then you will soon see that not only are there many different web hosting providers available, there are also a number of different types of web hosting.

When looking for the best web hosting provider there are a number of things you will have to consider such as the price, the customer service and the amount of storage space and bandwidth on offer. However the first thing you need to determine is the type of hosting that you are going to actually require for your website. The following is a brief explanation of the various types of hosting that you can choose from.

  • Free Web Hosting. Free web hosting sounds fantastic because at the end of the day, we all love getting something for nothing. Most of us think that all free things have to be good things but this is not always the case with free web hosting. In fact, free web hosting is rarely free. Just because you do not have to pay a cash sum up front or on a monthly basis, does not mean that you are not going to be paying in some other way. Many free web hosting services will require you to provide advertising space on your website in exchange for the service and this can often be detrimental to a website as the website owner gets no say in the ads placed on the site. The biggest issue with free web hosting is the fact that it can appear amateurish and is very limited.
  • Shared Paid for Hosting. Shared hosting is when you pay the web hosting provider for a part of the server. You will be paying for a specific amount of storage space and bandwidth and the server will be shared between you and a number of other website owners. All the resources of the server are shared between the various websites and this is probably the most popular type of web hosting because it is affordable and gives you more control over your site.
  • Dedicated Web Hosting. This is the hosting package that offers the most benefits to the website owner because the server is dedicated solely for one website. All the resources of the server are used by one website which is one of the main reasons why most website owners would like to have dedicated hosting. The biggest drawback with this type of web hosting is that it is really expensive. It is not recommended unless your website can justify the amount of money it would cost.
