Top 6 games for the new iPod Touch with Retina Display

While the iPad and iPhone 4 have been selling an incredible amount of units, Apple has quietly released the updated version of the iPod Touch, which is now better than ever, and quite frankly, is the best multimedia device out there. It has everything you need, except a phone, and you can use it not only to watch movies and listen to music, but also to edit documents, surf the Web, stream live video, connect to remote servers and a lot of other tasks.

And the iPod Touch looks so great, you’ll never want to return it after buying it. It’s so slim, you’ll simply be amazed every day, and the new Retina Display (the biggest improvement, along with new internal hardware) is just gorgeous. Of course, being a media device with the best specs on the market, the new iPod Touch can play games – and some pretty serious ones at that. There aren’t that many of them on the market, but you can always install a Gameboy or even PlayStation emulator to get access to hundreds of other great titles. For now, here are the top games that look and work perfectly on the new iPod Touch.

Asphalt 5 HD.

Asphalt 5 HD is one of the best racing games for iOS – it looks great, has a lot of cars, racetracks and good music and the controls are adjustable for any kind of situation. The new version for the Retina Display has improved graphics and sound (thanks to the more powerful processor) and adds a few new cars and tracks, as well. You just have to try it out!

Chaos Rings.

Chaos Rings is a RPG game developed by Square Enix, and it’s now available for the iPod Touch, as well. It will not run on previous models, or at least not as smooth, but thanks to the new hardware and the high resolution display, you can now have a much more enjoyable RPG experience wherever you are on your iPod Touch.

Eliminate: Gun Range.

This is a very nice game that has great graphics and game physics. As the title suggests, you play as a visitor to the gun range, and have to shoot at targets using a wide variety of guns and ammunition. It’s pretty fun to play, and it doesn’t lag at all, compared to the previous IPods.

Flight Control.

Flight Control is one of the most popular iOS games of all time, and now it has been improved for the new display, as well. It has better graphics and it’s also more stable than before. If you enjoyed it on the iPhone 3G, 3GS or an older iPod Touch, I’m sure you’ll simply love it on the new model.

Enigmo 2.

Enigmo 2 is an amazing looking puzzle game that is set in space and features some pretty smart puzzles. Your goal is to set a number of laser beams, water droplets and plasma into their own containers using various pieces that you are given. The backgrounds look great, and the game physics are also very high, which makes for a very enjoyable experience.

Spider: The secret of Bryce manor.

In this game, you are reborn as a spider and have to explore the house you’re in, finding secrets and other things along the way. It’s a very nice and relaxing adventure game, and the new version has been improved with higher quality graphics and better animations, which makes it so good you can easily immerse yourself into it for hours at end.

Of course, there are lots of other great games, and you can find them on the iTunes marketplace with a simple search. The above games, however, are the ones that really take full advantage of the iPod Touch’s high resolution display and powerful internal hardware (just like they do on the iPhone 4), and you’ll get a completely new experience playing them compared to older games or the older iPod models.
