The Review of The Asus Eee Pc 1015PED

The Asus 1015 is an embodiment of a standard netbook, that is, there is no particular trait that can separate it from its peers. It offers a solid performance steared by its long battery life and a solid demeanor. The machine has some defects like lack of a HD screen and poor high class video performance, but at a price of about 369 US dollars you would expect some setbacks. The Asus 1015 performs better than most of its peers in its 10.3 inches by 7 inches by 1.4 inches frame with a weight of 2.76 pounds.

It uses intel Atom N475 CPU with an installed memory of 1GB, which can be beefed to a maximum of 2 GB. It uses memory technology DDR3 with a speed of 1333H and comes with a disappointingly slow 5400rpm Hard Drive. Other storage facilities include SD/MMC CARD and SDHC card. This storage armour is further bolstered by 500GB online storage that comes as a twelve -month free token. The machine also comes with windows 7 Home Starter edition and 3.0 Bluetooth. The package will also come with other software like cyberlink Youcam to supplement the 0.3 mega pixel webcam, a minor edition of Trend micro internet security, microsoft office 2010 starter edition and the Syncable Desk top SE to help you to blend the data in your netbook with those in your computer.

The device comes with three USB 2.0 ports -USB 3.0 is available in a select non -United States countries-, gigabit ethernet, audio in/out components, VGA and a useful five -in- one card reader. You can also add a switch for 802 11n wireless for great connectivity into the mix. The Asus 1015 will guarantee a solid, effective performance, what with its top notch battery that can run the clock to a commendable eight and half hours before stopping. It also offers great connectivity and its audio capabilities will not disappoint you at all. The keyboard has a nice and soft feel that makes it a good typing tool, while the touchpad is responsive.

The video performance of the Asus 1015 sadly does not offer good value especially the 1080p and high rate 720p videos. It even struggles to master the medium bit rate 720p videos and can only conquor the the low bit rate 720p and 480p resolution videos. The keyboard requires regular cleaning due to its large spacing that can be clogged with dirt. The buttons also needs a lot of affort to click.

The device is a good buy that offers a pretty effective performance, but also comes with its fair share of issues, a fact betrayed by its below per score of 38 on the WorldBench test. Those who value their video portfolio will find the Asus 1015 a bit off the mark.
