The Gx640 is an adviseable laptop for those looking for a gaming machine. The 15.4 incher comes with a potent multimedia artillary that is difficult to match. Its weight of about six pound means that the machine is easier to carry than other equally powerful units. The device will set you back $1159 -as at 20th may, 2010-.

The machine boosts of a forceful a Core i5 430M processor that works at a robust speed of 2.27GHz and an equally potent HD 5850 graphics card from ATI Radeon that packs an impressive 1 giga byte of GDDR5 memory. Add to that an installed memory of 4GB DDR3 that moves at a speed of 1333 MHz and you begin to see why the GX640 is touted as a multimedia powerhouse. The machine also comes with a single 500 GB hard drive that works at a commendable rate of 7200 rpm. The hard drive is suplimented by other storage facilities like: Express Card, SD Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick PRO, XD -Picture, Multimedia Card and SDHC Card.

The machine comes in a 15.4 inch LCD display that has a resolution of 1680 by 1050 pixels. It is also Bluetooth -enabled as well as having a pretty robust 10/100/1000 mps and the 540 mps IEEE 802. 11n wireless ethernet in toe. The machine also packs a nine -cell battery and a notable keyboard that is full -size and complete with a separate numeric pad. The machine has a great gaming experience, with graphics coordinating perfectly, while the chassis doesn’t overheat. The only problem is with when playing darker games that require maximum brightness as this reduces the battery life to a mere one hour.

The machine also comes with a ketboard that is springy keys that are quite easy to type on. The keys are pretty responsive as well as having modern font letters, just as the ones on the Alienware M11X laptop. The system also comes up with a smooth trackpad featuring two buttons beneath it, but the pad is not perfectly responsive.
