Where Seagate has taken most of the Portable hard drive market, TP link is the master of networking products. Router, being a major networking product, is the core of the computer networks. It is a layer 3 device which is capable of routing and forwarding data packets.
Routing involves opening up the routing information contained in the incoming packet and checking the source and destination address of the packet. The destination address is looked upon in the routing table stored in the router to check for the shortest path on which the packet should be directed. Forwarding involves sending the packet onto an outgoing link that will take the packet to its destination.
Different vendors like Huawei and TP link manufacture routers. Routers differ in the routing algorithm that they use for maintaining the routing tables. They also differ in size and the environment they will be used in. A small router is used to connect a home network of 4-5 computers to the internet, whereas a large router may be used to connect internet service providers (ISPs) together. Also, routers can be wired and wireless. A wired router connects to the relevant computer via an Ethernet cable. It is also connected to the ISP server through a long cable. Wireless router is also connected to the ISP through a cable. However, computers need not to have an Ethernet connection with a wireless router. All they require is a wireless LAN card, and they are good to go.
TP link manufactures a large number of wired and wireless routers. Most of them come with a WAN and LAN connection together with multi bandwidth, which enables the user to connect single router to various ISPs. They possess queuing feature that reduces the chances of packet loss.
