Canon has further added to its Pixma MX line of printers by introducing its new Pixma MX870. This product is said to be a blend of previous two editions, MX330 and MX7600. The design for the new MX870 has been borrowed from MX330 and the functionality and the features of the printer have been borrowed from the MX7600. However, one feature which is a brand new addition is the availability of Wi-Fi connectivity.

The brand new feature of wireless connectivity saves the hassle of installing various printing cables at various different ends. It performs the basic jobs such as printing, scanning and copying. The product has been priced at $199 which is believed to be reasonable enough looking at the multi functional features it has to offer.

Often it becomes confusing for new users to get adapted to the use of a multifunctional printer. However, with the availability of the driver CD, it helps in making life easy for the user with a step by step guide. The driver also enables the user to pre-set the settings as per their requirement which could include the paper size, type of media, black or color printing etc.

Canon along with its printers provides software which helps users in editing their documents rather than having to use complicated software’s such as the Adobe Photoshop.

Design

The design of the product has been made user friendly, it has smooth round edges which gives it a sleek and an attractive look. The 2.5 inch LCD screen is very nicely built which makes it easy in accessing the control panel. The shape of Pixma MX870 is measured at 18.1 by 16.2 inches wide and deep, and 7.8 inches tall. The design has been made in such a manner that the printer could be used at home and office both. At one single instance Pixma MX870 can handle up to 300 pages, 150 of them are kept on the tray which pulls out from underneath the folding output bay whereas the other 150 could be kept in the rear loading cassette.

Furthermore, the designing allows the user to be able to view the status of the current job, graphical representation of the ink cartridge levels, document name etc. Buyer of MX870 would also be delighted to have the option of a dedicated card reader which would allow photographers to just insert the card and be able to print their snaps.

Features

Pixma MX870 comprises of the basic features such as printing, scanning and copying. In advanced feature, all the basic functions are now performed through wireless connectivity or via Ethernet network. The 2.5inch LCD screen helps you keep a track of all the printing details which makes life easy for the user rather than having to manually keep a track of all the details.
