Digital Storm ODE Level 3

For the gamers out there, there are options that can save the time and energy necessary to build a good, optimal gaming machine from the ground up. Digital Storm is a company specializing in customized machines, so it’s little surprise that they’ve come up with a good combination of features and installed hardware that rival all competition.

The $2,399 ODE Level 3 is a superb machine. It owes its flawless functionality to the hardware it packs in there behind the transparent plastic siding of the unit. That’s right; little red lights in the guts of the machine light it up, showing off the hardware. This machine is built with customization in mind.

Digital Storm offers upgrading to its customers, lifetime customer support and a wicked 3 year warranty. The machine is built like a champ already, so as long as you don’t spill water, expect a long life.

The case is the Corsair Graphite Series 600T, and for the ODE Level 3 it comes in white. It’s 20 inches tall, and that plastic peek-a-boo screen is located on the right side. The showing off is typical of gaming desktops that pack a punch. The top grate from which hot air can escape makes the ODE Level 3’s liquid cooling system even more efficient. There are a number of fans throughout the machinery as well. Cooling systems are absolutely necessary for computers meant to run at high resolution and at high speeds.

Indeed, the 3.4 gigahertz Intel Core i7-2600k coupled with GTX 570 video cards makes the ODE Level 3 a lightning fast gamer, with exact response time and unrivaled image support. Frames run across the screen at a smooth 71 frames per second, each maintaining crisp 1,920×1,1080 resolution.

The computer is powered by 800-watts, which is more than sufficient for the packaging that comes with the machine. That packaging includes quite a lot of juicy pieces. 6 hard drive sliding compartments are available, two of which are occupied, one by a 120 gigabyte SSD for program support, and the other by a 7,200rpm 1 terabyte of hard drive storage space. There are 4 optical drive bays, one of which is a Blue-ray combination port.

Two of the PCI Express slots are filled by nVidia GeForce GTX 570 video cards, which bring the highest quality graphics to life. There are in addition 4 RAM slots, two of which are taken up by a total of 8 gigabytes of memory. The motherboard itself is an Asus Sabertooth P67 with three of a whopping eight SATA ports being utilized.

Basically, the already impressive array of hardware is made more impressive by the convenient spaces reserved for more. The machine is easy to open, with two latches on the back of the desktop. You’ll notice a bunch of jacks back there, including a free USB 3.0 port, 4 2.0 ports, FireWire, some audio inputs, and eSATA.

The ODE Level 3 pleases, packs and delivers.
